| Technology doesn’t improve the world. All it does is raise the bar and force us to do more (consume more) in a shorter period of time. Instead of taking an entire day to do one thing, we are now expected to do 100 things in a single day just to keep up. Now, with the internet, email, and webcam all integrated into a cell phone, not only will we lose all sense of privacy but it will be the norm (therefore, an expectation) for people to attend meetings, respond to work emails, and continue with their regular office duties even while they're away on vacation 5,000 miles away. Downtime and alone time will be a thing of the past. I can’t wait for the day in which we will be expected to research the cheapest manufacturer of PUR glue off the wall of our bathroom while we’re taking a dump or off our swimming trunks while we’re snorkeling in Hawaii. Technology doesn’t ultimately make our lives any easier since the time and effort it saves is replaced by the expectation to do more. Some people think technology is a lifestyle choice but I don't believe it is. How can our lives not be completely dependant on technology when it is the basis by which what others expects of us is set? In the end, the only thing for certain is that technology and higher productivity speed up the destruction of our environment and the depletion of natural resources. Too bad I am too busy to do anything about it, since I still have 100 emails that I need to reply to with my super cell phone... Isn't this a form of entrapment? There should be some kind of law against tech companies conspiring to exploit humanity with their crazy soul-sucking products.

| Other than toxic toys, I don't get why certain people or businesses boycott China made products under the claim that Chinese companies run sweat shops, employing under-aged and under-paid workers. Considering the fact that this is only true due to the value of the dollar being weaker than the US (otherwise everyone is paid the same, relatively), it is truly amazing how self righteous certain countries can be. To me, a person that says they don't buy product made in China because of "bad working conditions" is the same thing as saying they refuse to give food to the hungry because they believe they have bad manners and don't have proper dining etiquette... Pompous asses. | | |

| It's hard to meet people that know the meaning of "common courtesy" since most people are too cool and too "real" to subject themselves to anything born out of what they believe to be pretense. I say, if you are too "real" to show manners and some kind of general humility, then you might as well turn yourself into some kind of animal, like a hyena or a gorilla. | | |
